Starting Atlanta
Updating. I’m terrible at it.
I am a graduate of FSU! Finally! It was touch and go there for a moment, but I did the whole ceremony thing, feeling way too inadequate with my plain black robes. I could say that I was just staying true to my Minimalist tastes, but thats not true. PhD candidates look like they’re graduating from some kind of Wizarding School. Masters students had way too much fun with velvet strips and hoods. Underclassmen with honors were given curtain drawstrings to wear around their necks. And me, with the black. Whatever. I could complain all day, or I could be fuckin’ stoked that I’m a GRAD! Booya. And they said I couldn’t do it! They did? Aw….
Previous to my graduation was some shenanigans with travel arrangements. I had already traveled up to Atlanta in Kyles car while he drove the moving truck up to our new house. New house is bad ass, by the by, as well as new roomates. I’ll post pictures soon. But then, a conundrum! I couldn’t get back to tally for graduation. Looks like my only option was taking the Greyhound. Subsequently, I found out what really pisses homeless crazy people off. 1.) Ask them why they have red print on their hospital wristbands, and 2.) Ignore them. This last one most of all, because then they get to thinking that they may not exist, and in their desperation to figure out if they’re just hallucinations or not, they will get physical. Longest 6 hours of my life that should actually be 3 hours of my life, because it is an absolute must that we stop at Nowhereland, GA, which also happens to have a mental ward in it’s city limits. 3.) Don’t touch their gigantic paper bag, and don’t ask why he keeps checking it and smelling it.
Now i’m in Lithia. Some victories here. I have a car! HALLELUJAH! I’m ecstatic! I put my tassel up there on the rear view mirror, and even though i’m not leaving town until the 19th, i’ve packed all my stuff in it. It is a 2001 Nissan Altima. And it is gorgeous. I’m gonna put a spoiler on it, and flame decals to make it go faster. I also have a slick new smart phone, so i’ll never get lost again. I got a job at a coffee shop up in Atlanta, the 25th being the first day.
I hope to visit some folks while i’m still down here in FL, namely Gary Mundlach and Jacquie!
I’m just so ready to drive, take control of my life. READY.
